Dr. Polly Polymer and the Fantastic Plastics Factory

Developed by the Society of Plastics Engineers—under the guidance of a panel of experienced classroom teachers—"Dr. Polly Polymer and the Fantastic Plastics Factory" introduces students to important learning concepts related to the science and mathematics of plastics and polymers. Consisting of a video, a teacher's guide, and student activity worksheet masters, this newest entry of SPE's educational programs is geared to the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. "Dr. Polly Polymer and the Fantastic Plastics Factory" was created especially with Grades 4-6 elementary school teachers in mind. In creating these classroom materials, one of our primary goals was to make it easy for teachers to incorporate these lessons into their existing curriculum.
In the video, Dr. Polly Polymer is a scientist who takes three students on a visit to the world of plastics. Using a real and an animated format, the students ask Dr. Polly to help them find plastics items in a scavenger hunt. In the process of completing the hunt they discover the wonders of the myriad plastics products that fill our lives. The program centers around four Student Challenges, each with easy-to-use lesson plans that involve young students in exciting, curriculum-relevant learning activities.

The program will also be for sale through the SPE Bookstore.
